US, France hint at bolstering Syrian opposition

           Western and Arab countries responded with outrage Sunday after Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have backed an Arab plan urging Syrian President Bashar Assad to give up power. 'Israeli officials abroad on alert due to terror threat'

           Israel l has raised the alert level at its consulates and embassies due to fears of an Iranian terror attack, ABC News reported Friday, citing a confidential document penned by the Israeli consulate in Philadelphia. PM Netanyahu: Iran 'chatter' detrimental to sanctions

Jerusalem and Berlin sign contract for sixth submarine

           Israel and Germany signed a contract a few weeks ago finalizing the sale of a sixth Dolphinclass submarine to the Israel Navy, The Jerusalem Post has learned. “Old alliances die hard”

         Russia and China’s veto at the UN Security Council blocking a resolution condemning Syrian President Bashar Assad reaffirms Israel’s belief that the UN cannot be relied on to prevent war and make peace, a Foreign Ministry official said on Saturday night. The vote also reconfirmed for Israel that “old alliances die hard,” he said.
