Israel dismissive of Swiss report on cause of Arafat's death

Israel was dismissive of conclusions of Swiss scientists supporting the theory that Yasser Arafat was killed by poisoning from the radioactive substance polonium. Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor called the Swiss results "inconclusive, at best," adding that even Arafat's widow Suha "understands that the evidence is so scant she cannot point the finger at anybody." He termed the various reports on the circumstances of Arafat's death a "soap opera" and stressed that Israel has no connection to the matter. Earlier, Arafat's widow Suha the findings of the report proved that her husband had been assassinated but she added she does not know who it is. The report issued by the Swiss team in Lausanne said the examination of Arafat's remains found "unexpectedly high levels" of polonium-210, which "moderately support the position that the death was the consequence of poisoning" from the deadly isotope. A Palestinian committee that has been investigating Arafat's death received a copy of the report, but did not offer immediate comment. The commmittee head said a news conference would be held in coming days to announce its next steps. Arafat died in a French hospital in 2004
