Netanyahu calls top US official in damage control bid over Ya'alon comments

Netanyahu spoke by phone to a senior US official later on Tuesday in a bid to smooth over the controversy, an Israeli official said on condition of anonymity, adding that Yaalon also discussed the matter with US Ambassador Dan Shapiro.
