'Sovereign nations act in their own interests'

Red Cross negotiates Syria humanitarian ceasefire with Assad regime

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is negotiating with Syrian authorities and opposition fighters on a ceasefire to bring life-saving aid to civilians hardest hit by the conflict, it said on Monday. New York Times : U.S. officials say Israel would need at least 100 planes to strike Iran

          Israel will need to use at least 100 planes and fly more than 1,000 miles above unfriendly airspace should it decide to attack Iran, the New York Times reported on Monday, citing the assessment of U.S. defense officials close to the Pentagon. White House official arrives for talks on Iran

US, EU welcome Iran proposal to resume nuclear talks

          The United States and European Union have expressed cautious optimism that Iran is serious about returning to talks with world powers over its nuclear program. Report: US officials increasingly convinced Iran sanctions will fail

World financial clearinghouse agrees to shut out Iran from network

Two Iranian vessels sail through Suez Canal into Mediterranean

           Two Iranian naval ships have sailed through Egypt's Suez Canal into the Mediterranean. A source in the Canal Authority said the ships crossed through the canal on Thursday following permission from the Egyptian armed forces.
