Ismail Haniyeh

   Ahmed  Abdel Rachman, advisor to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas,said today, Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh's declaration in Teheran that Hamas would "never" recognize Israel proved that Hamas could not be part of a palestinian unity government, media reported. Rachman said that Hamas must recognize Israel and honor all existing agreements between Israel and the Palestinians. Haniyeh called Iran, a longtime ally of Hamas, the Palestinians' "strategic depth" because they were together in their fight against Israel.(20,35)
