Palestinian Authority Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas warned Saturday that if the unity talks with Hamas failed, he would call new elections. "Either there will be a unity government or there will be elections." Following Syrian intervention, Hamas and Fatah officials said today that Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas and Hamas political leader Meshal would meet in Damascus on Sunday evening. "Our message is forbidding infighting, stopping instigation and the formation of a national unity government" Saeb Erekat said after Abbas met Syrian Vice President Farouk Shara and Hamas official said that the meeting between Abbas and Mashaal to conclude in an agreement on the establishment of a unity government.
