Israelis, Turks meet twice this week in UN to discuss flotilla raid

‏         The Turkish daily Hurriyet reports that Turkish Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioğlu and Yosef Ciechanover, the Israeli representative to the UN committee probing Israel's late May raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla, met on Monday for the second time in two days in a bid to revive bilateral ties, A Turkish diplomatic source told the newspaper, "If someone extends us a friendly hand for a solution to problems, we do not leave that hand in the air." Referring to the assistance Turkey provided during the Carmel forest fire , another Turkish diplomat told Hurriyet, "It is certain that the 'fire diplomacy' has encouraged the diplomatic contact. These kinds of situations sometimes help break the ice." (23,00)
