Fatah dismisses Mohammed Dahlan
The Fatah central committee announced Sunday night it was officially dismissing senior official Mohammed Dahlan and cutting all ties with him. Dahlan was accused of masterminding a revolt against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas six months ago, and forced to flee to Jordan. In an interview with al-Arabiya at the time, Dahlan rejected the allegations against him and said he had never incited against Abbas or his affiliates. "These reports are a shame to the entire Fatah faction," he said. "The accusations that I incited against (Abbas) are unacceptable. These words… benefit elements such as Hamas and Israel." (09,32)
