Israels prepares to expel some 124 pro-Palestinian activists

          Israel is preparing to expel some 124 mostly European activists who managed to arrive on flights to the country as part of a pro-Palestinian protests. The activists were being held in Israeli detention centers. An immigration service official said that as soon as there were places on appropriate flights the rest would be expelled. Eighty-five tourists who landed on Friday in Israel were taken in for questioning by the Interior Ministry's Population Immigration and Border Control authority, after being suspected of involvement in the pro-Palestinian Gaza fly-in. Activists from Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Holland and the United States were denied entry into Israel and will be deported back to their countries on the earliest flight available.‏Fifty one pro-Palestinian activists who were denied entry into Israel were transferred to Ramla's Givon prison - 33 women and 18 men. ‏ Several Israeli activists were arrested at the arrivals hall, after protesting in support of the "flytilla." ‏Some 40 passengers were not allowed to board the Easyjet flight from Geneva, after their name appeared on a black list, which the airline received from Israeli security authorities. ‏Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said after an assessment of the situation Friday evening at Ben-Gurion Airport that he has instructed all the security forces to "prepare for every possible scenario, in order to maintain order at the airport." The fly-in took place as a flotilla fo ships was bieng prevented by Greece from sailing to the Gaza Strip in a bid to break the Israeli naval blockade of the territory.. (12,21)
