Palestinian youths protest in Ramallah over Syrian crackdown
In Ramallah about four-hundred Palestinian youth staged a sit-in late Sunday to protest Syria's brutal crack-down on anti-regime protesters. Palestinian police did not intervene. Brandishing Syrian flags, the Palestinians , who organized te rally via Facebook, called President Assad a " coward" to attack his own people and should instead send his troops to the Golan Heights, an area annexed by Israel in the Six-day war. Earlier, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNRWA expressed deep concerns over the firing by Syrian forces towards the Ramel Palestinian refugee camp at the Syrian Port of Latakia, saying sources indidcate there have been deaths and injuries among the Palestinian refugees. Syrian military gunboats joined an assault for the first time in the crackdown, that killed 26 people on Sunday in Latakia, Activists said, the first attack from the sea since the anti-regime revolt erupted.(09,30)
