Russia warns Israel on atacking Iran

             Russia has warned Israel that attacking Iran would be a disaster. Speaking at a press conference in Moscow today Russian deputy foreign minister Gennady Gatilov said any possible military scenario against Iran will be catastrophic for the region and for the whole system of international relations. It was one of Russia's harshest warnings against resorting to force. Gatilov said that he hoped Israel understands all these consequences including the impact on themselves. The Russian deputy foreign minister suggested that Iran should be more cooperative but there is more room for diplomacy. He said Iran's discussions with Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany, that have been frozen for a year, could still be revived. The Russian position came after the failure of two days of talks between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Officials from the nuclear watchdog were refused access to a military site where they believe Iran tested explosives of use in nuclear weapons and this appears to dim the chances of western powers agreeing to renew broader negotiations with Iran. Tension has also been raised by a warning from Iran's clerical supreme leader Ayatollah Khaeini after the talks concluded that no obstacle would derail his country's nuclear course. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says Israel will not bow to foreign pressure in deciding whether to attack Iran.  In an interview on Channel 2 news Lieberman rebuffed suggestions that American and Russian warnings against striking Iran would affect Israeli decision making saying the deicsion is not their business.  He said the security of the citizens of Israel, the future of the state are the government's responsibility.
