Ulpana: Last family evacuated

             Border Guard officers evicted Thursday evening the Patael family from its apartment in Ulpana, thus completing the evacuation of five of the neighborhood's homes in accordance with a High Court ruling. The court ordered the State to evacuate the homes in the West Bank settlement of Beit El because they were built on private Palestinian land. The Patael family was the last family to be evacuated. The rest were evicted earlier this week. During Thursday's evacuation, a group of right-wing activists barricaded themselves in one of the now vacant homes. Security forces were expected to remove them from the premises. The officers arrived at the Patael home and instructed the family to evacuate. The parents refused, forcing the officers to remove Yoel, the father, by force. The mother left willingly. Meanwhile, a group of rightists holed themselves up in an apartment in the same complex. They were eventually removed by the officers. The officers will remain in the area to prevent other rightists from raiding other vacant homes in Ulpana. On Tuesday residents of Ulpana prevented a group of teens from barricading themselves in one of the evacuated apartments. The rightist teens yelled, "You sold the homes."
