Homefront Command exercise continues
As the massive Homefront Command exercise continued, a siren sounded for a second time Wednesday, at 7pm, after the first siren at 11 in the morning. The sirens sounded throughout the country, with the objective of ensuring that Israelis know where their closest shelter or other secure area is located, in case of an attack. During the morning drill, sirens were sounded twice due to a malfunction in a number of locations in the south, including Beersheva, Ashkelon and Ashdod. Some residents suffered from trauma because they thought that the second sounding meant that there was a real attack. In other locations, the sirens were not heard at all. The Homefront Command says the manfunctions will be checked, and that an objective of the drill was to prevent such problems from ocurring in the future.(21,00)
