Hamas rejects Red Cross request for sign of life from Gilad Schalit
Hamas has rejected a request from the international Red Cross to produce a sign of life from captive IDF soldier Gilad Schalit. A Hamas parliament member Salah al-Bardawil said that the request is an attempt by Israel to locate where Schalit is being held so that it can free him in a military operation. He said the only way to get information about Schalit is for Israel to release Palestinian prisoners. The Red Crss said it is concerned about Schalit's situation, and under international law, his family should be allowed to be in contact with him. (14,00)
